Welcome

2008 Dickens Festival

For over 30 years, the sights, sounds, smells and surprises of the Dickens Festival have been delighting holiday revelers in Historic Downtown Holly.   Join in the fun as Charles Dickens’ Merry Old England comes alive in the atmosphere of turn of the century buildings, welcoming shopkeepers, and skilled craftspeople.

This year’s event takes place December 6th & 7th, December 13th & 14th, and December 20th & 21st.  Festival hours are from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a free family event- make it a tradition in your family.

Central to the celebration are characters from Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” – Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, The Ghost of Christmas Past and many others – brought to life by members of The Festival Singers, who will also present music of the season in 5-part a cappella harmony.  Guest choirs, Giant Bubble Making, horse and carriage ride, and audience participation games, round out the daily entertainment schedule.

Each weekend, will feature different activities. An ice sculptor, black smith, scissors wizard, and others will be showcasing their talents throughout the weekends. There will also be a parade of lights, geocaching and snow shoeing activities, fire show and many other unique and exciting things to do and see.

Also, don't forget to visit Mister Fezziwig's Cottage, hosted by the Holly Hotel and open every weekend during the Festival. This year, the chefs at the Holly Hotel will feature mulled wines, Marley's egg nog (and a Tiny Tim version as well), warm cinnamon cider, shepard's pie, victorian goose pot pie, buttery shortbread scones, and much more in the warming tent.

Admission is FREE. The Village of Holly is located in the northwest corner of Oakland County, and is less than an hour drive from most of the Detroit Metropolitan area.  It is easily accessible from I-75 and US-23.
